Data and sign-in: Supabase

Create a Supabase account

Supabase holds your app's data, such as bookings and customers, and lets you and your team sign in. You open the account yourself, in your business's name. Your AI can't open it for you.

Free while you build, $25 a month once live

The Free plan is enough to build on. Free projects pause after a week without use, so once your app is live you'll move to Pro, at $25 a month. Your AI reminds you before it goes live.

Have these ready

  • Your business email address
  • A password manager, or another safe place for one more password: the database password you make in step 6

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open Supabase's sign-up page

    Go to supabase.com/dashboard/sign-up.

You should see: Get started, with fields for your email and a password, and a Sign up button.

  2. Step 2: Sign up with your business email

Type your business email and a password of at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a symbol. Click Sign up.

You should see: A green box that says Check your email.

If it looks different: If the business already has a GitHub or ChatGPT account, Continue with GitHub or Continue with ChatGPT works too.

  3. Step 3: Confirm your email

Open the email from Supabase and click its link. It works for 10 minutes.

You should see: Supabase's dashboard, with Create an organization and a New organization button.

If it looks different: No email after a minute? Check your junk or spam folder. If the link has expired, go back to the sign-up page and sign up again.

  4. Step 4: Create an organization for your business

Click New organization. For Name, type your business's name. Set Type to Company and choose your Company size. Leave Plan on Free - $0/month, and click Create organization.

You should see: Create a new project, with your organization already chosen.

  5. Step 5: Name the project

Type a Project name, such as your app's name.

You should see: The name in the field, with no warning under it.

  6. Step 6: Make the database password

Click Generate a password, then the copy icon in the password field, and save the password in your password manager. You'll need it once more, when you connect Supabase.

You should see: A long password of letters and numbers in the field, and the same password saved.

If it looks different: Typed your own password instead? Use Generate a password: a password with symbols makes the connection harder to set up.

  7. Step 7: Choose the region

Open Region and choose Americas, under General regions.

You should see: Region shows Americas.

  8. Step 8: Check the security settings

Under Security, leave Enable Data API ticked. If Automatically expose new tables is ticked, untick it, as Supabase recommends. Your AI sets up who can see what.

You should see: Enable Data API ticked, and Automatically expose new tables unticked.

  9. Step 9: Create the project

    Click Create new project.

You should see: Setting up project for a few minutes, then your project's home page with its name at the top.

If it looks different: Still setting up after a few minutes? Refresh the page.

Leave it there for now. When your AI asks for Supabase, follow Connect Supabase with Claude.
