Connect Resend with Claude
Your app sends email with a key from Resend. You make the key and paste it into your app's key file. Your AI uses it from there and never sees it. The same steps work in Codex.
Have these ready
- Your Resend account, with your domain Verified: Create a Resend account
Steps
Step 1: Let your AI open the key file
When it's ready for Resend, it adds a line to your app's key file,
.env.local, and opens the file for you.- Mac
- It opens in TextEdit.
- Windows
- It opens in Notepad.
You should see: The file, with a line that reads
RESEND_API_KEY=.If it looks different: Nothing opened? Ask your AI:
Please open .env.local for me.Step 2: Make a key in Resend
In Resend, click API Keys, then Create API Key. Name it after your app, set the permission to Sending access, choose your domain, and click Add.
You should see: Your new key, which starts with
re_. Resend shows it only once.If it looks different: Closed it before copying? Delete that key and make a new one: Resend never shows a key twice.
Step 3: Paste it after
RESEND_API_KEY=Copy the key and paste it right after the equals sign, with no space and no quotes.

If it looks different: If it says the key is missing, check that you saved the file and that the line starts with
