Email: Resend

Create a Resend account

Resend sends your app's emails, such as confirmations and receipts, from your business's own domain. You open the account yourself, then show you own the domain by adding a few records where it's managed.

Why a part of your domain

Resend recommends sending from a part of your domain, such as updates.yourbusiness.com. That keeps your app's emails apart from your team's everyday email, so a problem with one never affects the other. The free plan sends 3,000 emails a month, up to 100 a day.

Have these ready

  • Your business email address
  • Your website's domain, such as yourbusiness.com
  • The sign-in for the company that manages your domain: the one you renew it with each year, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace or Cloudflare

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open Resend's sign-up page

    Go to resend.com/signup.

You should see: Create a Resend account, with fields for your email and a password, and buttons to log in with Google or GitHub.

  2. Step 2: Create your account

Type your business email and a password of at least 12 characters, with letters, numbers and symbols. Click Create account. If your business email is on Google, Log in with Google works too.

    You should see: Resend's dashboard.

If it looks different: If Resend emails you a link to confirm your address, open it first. Nothing after a minute? Check your junk or spam folder.

  3. Step 3: Add your domain

Click Domains, then Add Domain. Type a part of your domain, such as updates.yourbusiness.com. For the region, choose us-east-1 (North Virginia).

You should see: Your domain's page, with a list of records to add.

  4. Step 4: Add the records where your domain is managed

If Resend shows Auto Configure (for GoDaddy and Vercel) or Sign in to Cloudflare, click it, sign in, and approve: it adds the records for you. Otherwise, open your domain company's DNS settings in a new tab and add each record as Resend shows it: its type, name and value. Copy and paste each one rather than typing.

You should see: Every record from Resend's list in your domain company's DNS settings.

If it looks different: Each company calls this page something different: DNS, DNS settings, Manage DNS, or Advanced DNS at Namecheap. Your AI can tell you where it is. If the company adds your domain to the end of each name, it may show twice: remove the extra part. On Cloudflare, turn off the orange cloud on each record.

  5. Step 5: Ask Resend to check the records

Back in Resend, click Verify DNS Records.

You should see: After a while, your domain's status says Verified. It often takes under 15 minutes, and can take up to 72 hours.

If it looks different: Still waiting after a day? Compare each record with Resend's list, letter by letter. After 72 hours, click Restart verification.

When your AI is ready to send email, it asks for a key: Connect Resend with Claude.
